Sex and Relationship Education and Therapy for Individuals, Couples online and in-person BRIGHTON
Hi, I’m Nikki the founder of the Sex ed Club.
I’m a multidisciplinary sexologist, living and practicing in Brighton. I’ve taught, studied and critiqued gender, sex and development across multiple careers, countries and creative endeavours.
I now spend my time helping women to stop apologising for their desires and start living them.
Think of me as part therapist, part educator, part cheerleader for your pleasure, with the occasional sprinkling of humour (because if we can’t laugh about sex and relationships, we’re missing half the fun)!
How Can I Help?
Here’s the thing: most of us grew up with sex education that was either non-existent or comically unhelpful. (Don’t get pregnant. Don’t get an STI. Don’t talk about it.)
So now, as adults, we’re left trying to build intimacy, desire, and confidence… armed with nothing but bad metaphors and even worse advice.
I created The Sex Ed Club for people like you, the funny, creative, thoughtful, and frankly ones that are tired of settling for less.
A little bit more about me
Nikki Scott is on a mission to smash down the shame wall and reclaim sovereignty over our own sexuality. As an intersectional, sex and relationships educator, Nikki believes we need a radical shift in the teaching and learning of sex and relationships. Her career has been filled with rich and varied work, life and travel experiences, which have influenced Nikki’s critical understanding of all things sex and relationships.
Qualified to reimagine how we have these conversations, Nikki has an MA in International Education and Development from the University of Sussex, the leading institute in Development Studies, specialising in the effectiveness of the UKs sex and relationship education. In addition, Nikki has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and a degree in Illustration and is ACET certified Sex and Relationship educator. With over 5 years teaching both nationally and internationally, Nikki has been exposed to a breadth of cultures, curriculums and teaching styles. She is currently a guest lecturer at the University of Sussex, whilst building a sex education and therapy business.
To support her holistic approach to learning, Nikki is also a qualified yoga instructor and has studied meditation and reiki. She has volunteered with organisations in India and Vietnam supporting the empowerment of women and girls, through education, art and wellbeing modalities. These experiences brought up unexpected feelings and emotions for Nikki and pushed her to reconsider her position within aid work. This shift in her understanding caused a much needed pause for reflection and adjusted her trajectory towards further study.
During her MA she focused her studies on the relevance and morality of the sex and relationship education in the UK, Queer theory and the implications of the preface for heterosexual structures. The knowledge she acquired from reading many (often rather dry) academic reports and articles in addition to her life experience informs and guides her to shake up the way we understand sex and relationship. She believes sex and relationship education to be a journey, not a destination, so get comfortable with the uncomfortable and join the club.
What people are saying
“My time with Nikki was hugely transformative. I began feeling a lot of shame and confusion around my own sexual identity and struggled to talk about sex. Through Nikki’s empathetic, gentle and open minded approach I gradually unfurled and was able to meet myself with graciousness and patience rather than the frustration and blockage I was feeling prior. I felt very safe sharing my concerns with Nikki and she always reflected and echoed them with professionalism and without judgement. It was very special to be shepherded through this journey by Nikki and I would wholeheartedly recommend her therapy to anyone who might be feeling daunted and stuck. Truly life changing. ”
“Nikki was fantastic, I highly recommend her sessions. She has helped me feel confident in understanding and navigating sexual culture in these changing times. I love how relaxed and open made the session feel like I could ask her anything and no topic was taboo.”
“Nikki is a fantastic facilitator who has worked closely with students at Sussex University to plan and deliver an intimate and inspiring discussion space on how the pervasive power of patriarchy controls and distorts our relationship to sex, to our bodies and to each other. The confidential space Nikki and the students created allowed for truly honest and non-judgemental discussion around issues that are rarely spoken about in public. It was insightful and left attendees with new understandings. I would recommend Nikki for your organisation if you are taking sex education seriously. ”
“To say that I was nervous to begin my work with Nikki is an understatement - I debated speaking with a professional for a good few years before taking the plunge and working with Nikki, and I am so glad that I did. Nikki created a space for me to explore my past, present and future where I felt completely safe, understood and never judged. Nikki really helped me to see how areas of my life that I thought were separate, were very much related, and I always left our sessions feeling lighter. I have come through my work with Nikki a stronger and more resilient person, with coping strategies and frameworks in place to improve not only my romantic relationship, but my relationship with myself. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nikki to somebody nervous to take that first step towards reclaiming themselves and their sexuality!”
“Nikki helped me to feel confident when talking about sex and opened up the idea of discussing issues like consent, ethics and pleasure. ”
“Nikkis’ sessions are fun and full of practical guidance I can immediately start using. We even got some handy homework to support our learning after the workshop.”
